Ubisoft Plus subscription service could arrive on Xbox soon
It has been almost a year since Ubisoft announced its Ubisoft Plus subscription service would be available on Xbox. Shortly after, it was announced for PlayStation, too, but nothing has come of that yet, save for a few Ubisoft titles landing on PlayStation Plus. If a recent report from Insider Gaming is accurate, Xbox owners will soon be able to access Ubisoft+ from their consoles.
Industry analyst @MauroNL3 spotted some subtle changes in the Xbox Store's backend, which showed recent Ubisoft titles such as Far Cry 6 as free-to-play. One could dismiss it as a one-off promotion had some in-game DLC not shown up alongside it. This confirms Microsoft is tweaking the Xbox Store to integrate Ubisoft Plus titles.
A recent GOG survey (via Gamerant) hinted Ubisoft plans to divvy up Ubisoft Plus into multiple tiers, effectively ending the one-size-fits-all approach it adopted till now. Some of the jucier perks, such as the ability to play AAA releases at launch, will likely be restricted to the pricier plans. Xbox players will almost certainly have to pay for the service separately, although one of the lower-end plans could end up bundled with Game Pass.
The above changes line up perfectly with the upcoming Developer Direct event scheduled for January 25. On top of showcasing its 2023 exclusives like Redfall and Forza Motorsport, Microsoft could officially announce Ubisoft Plus's arrival on Xbox. However, Mauro opines that the service will arrive on Xbox consoles no later than January 16. This isn't entirely far fetched, given the integration was announced quite some time ago.
