OnePlus and Qualcomm have teamed up to make the former's new flagship smartphone the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered device compatible with Snapdragon Spaces, a developer's resource for augmented reality (AR) applications. The partners assert that it allows the 11 to fully unlock the potential of the latest Qualcomm Wireless AR Wireless Smart Viewers, and to stage "an AR concert" during MWC 2023.

OnePlus asserts that its engineers have been working "day and night" to make its latest flagship smartphone Snapdragon Spaces-ready for the first time in its ray-tracing-capable flagship 8 Gen 2 processor's history. This new level of compatibility with Wireless AR Wireless Smart Viewers based on Qualcomm's XR2 platform.

The OEM has achieved this thanks to the Android Hardware Abstraction Layer found in the latest version of its OxygenOS, required to integrate the Snapdragon Spaces SDK. OnePlus has also leveraged its collaboration with Qualcomm to develop its first Hardware Ray Tracing Solution for mobile XR ecosystems.

The achievements will be showcased in the form of the XR Stage Show, created around the OEM's new mobile gaming partner Tower of Fantasy, that OnePlus will be holding in its new AR space during MWC 2023, alongside its latest concept device. It can be experienced using the 11 and Wireless Smart Viewer demo units found at booth 3M10, Hall 3 in Fira Gran Via from February 27 to March 2, 2023.
