OnePlus unveils OxygenOS 13 as its latest and most "evolved" version of Android
OnePlus has just formally introduced OxygenOS 13 (or OOS 13), the next upcoming version of its software skin based on Android 13. As such, it is rated to support some of the latest features direct from Google, enhanced privacy protection and Nearby Share included. However, some fans might be inclined to see influences from other sources in the new builds.
OnePlus spent several minutes praising its online user community and the contribution to OOS it has made over the years during its freshly-completed New York event. However, it could also be said to have gotten even closer to ColorOS with this update, particularly in its new Smart Launcher, profusion of square icons and new "Aquamorphic" Design.
OOS 13 also features the latest generation of the HyperBoost gaming performance algorithms, complete with the latest GPA 4.0 frame stabilizer, ported from OPPO since the last few upgrades. Then again, the brand asserts that many signature features OnePlus has developed over the years, Zen Mode, Private Safe and its AOD modes such as Canvas persist, upgraded or enhanced in this new version of the OS.
Then again, OOS 13 will be the first version to feature a new AOD with an officially-licensed Spotify intergration. It will also introduce Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support in compatible devices, as well as potentially improved pairing and syncing with smart devices and peripherals.
The impending upgrade has debuted alongside the 10T; however, the new flagship-remix smartphone will ship with the existing 12.1 software, leaving the first taste of OOS 13 to OnePlus' first 2022 release, the 10 Pro.
The OEM noted that it will hit the flagship "soon", indicating that it will hit the new T variant next "later this year", followed by the 8, 8 Pro, 8T, 9, 9 Pro, Nord 2, Nord 2T, Nord CE, Nord CE 2 and Nord CE 2 Lite thereafter.
