MWC 2022 | OnePlus 10 Pro to launch this month globally as Pete Lau confirms OxygenOS independence from Oppo
OnePlus may not have released the OnePlus 10 Pro at MWC 2022, but it has offered a few more details about the global version of the device. To recap, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that operates at up to 120 Hz and 1440p. The smartphone also has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 80 W wired charging.
Supposedly, OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 10 Pro later this month globally. Presumably, the company will do so at a dedicated launch event, likely an online event in the case of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 series. Unfortunately, OnePlus has not confirmed the date of its OnePlus 10 Pro global launch event.
Incidentally, Pete Lau has confirmed that OxygenOS and ColorOS will not merge to create a unified and upgraded operating system. For context, OnePlus announced in January that it would release the OnePlus 10 Pro globally with OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12. However, it has since unveiled OxygenOS 13, which we have discussed separately. In a OnePlus Forum post, Pete Lau explains that:
Back in September, we announced the codebase for both OxygenOS and ColorOS would merge with the goal of creating one unified and upgraded operating system for both brands globally. While OxygenOS and ColorOS will continue to be developed on the same codebase – to allow for faster updates and better build quality – OxygenOS and ColorOS will remain independent brand properties. This new course was taken in accordance with feedback from our Community – we understand users of OxygenOS and ColorOS want each operating system to remain separate from each other with their own distinct properties.
