iPhone 13, OnePlus 10 Pro, Huawei Mate 40 Pro set the pace in battery endurance test
Right about every year, Apple dominates smartphone battery life tests. That trend looks set to continue this year as well, as a new battery drain test has seen the vanilla iPhone 13 come out on top, with a surprising contender, the OnePlus 10 Pro finishing second.
The iPhone 13 and its 3227 mAh battery leads the way with a time of 6h12m, with the 5000 mAh OnePlus 10 Pro coming in second at 5h58m. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro shows off the Kirin 9000's excellence by finishing marginally third at 5h55m, despite only having a 4400 mAh battery. It's interesting to see that the Mi 11 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Pro have identical times at 5h18m and 5h16m respectively. The Xiaomi 12 Pro sports a 400 mAh battery, though.
The specifics of the test are a bit vague as the source is Chinese. It appears, however, that the test entailed five hours of idling, an hour of surfing Weibo, another hour of using Taobao, and two hours of what appears to be gaming. It's a bit iffy but shouldn't matter much as all devices are assumed to have been subjected to the same conditions.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is absent on this list, and its 4352 mAh battery would likely have seen it dominate. While Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phones are unlikely to unseat the Apple phones, it'll be interesting to see another test in the future with the upcoming Galaxy S22 series phones included. For what it's worth, though, the Galaxy S21 Ultra finishes last here, with over an hour less than the iPhone 13 despite having a significantly larger 5000 mAh battery.
