Huawei's Mate-series smartphones have been without an update for well over a year now. However, the case industry must believe the rumored 50 and its siblings is indeed on the way, as it is already making accessories for them. At least, that is what the leaker Sudanshu Ambhore seems to think, having posted renders to this effect on Twitter.
Ambhore's new images, reportedly sourced directly from "casemakers", shows a "Huawei Mate 50 Pro" in a compatible product with reinforced corners and rear camera cut-outs. Given that the accessory in question is clear, it may be the best look yet at the upcoming phablet - should the renders prove genuine, of course.
Presuming this is the case, the "Mate 50 Pro" is now tipped to launch with a camera hump that looks somewhat like that of its predecessor; however, the "Star Ring" look is dropped in these renders in order to follow some recent trends instead. This apparently results in a central raised ring surrounding 4 well-sized round cut-outs, although only 3 of them seem to be for lenses.
The fourth houses a less readily-identifiable module that could be a secondary flash (or some kind of sensor) found within a black ring. The overall effect is of a OnePlus 10 Pro camera hump, (without Hasselblad logos, of course) slightly modified and grafted onto the midline of this putative new phone.
The new leak also yields some other potential Mate 50 details: it now looks like the device might come with yet another curved display and conventional power and volume controls. The renders may also confirm the absence of a headphone jack (although there is a bottom-firing speaker), although Huawei could support expandable storage in the upcoming flagship mobile device.
