Huawei has now delivered on its global launch for its latest flagship smartphone, the P50 Pro, along with its foldable counterpart the P50 Pocket, with pre-orders in a number of countries worldwide. They have been released as frankly questionable contenders in terms of price, albeit with free gifts in some markets.

Huawei has now added pre-order buttons for the P50 Pro and Pocket to many of its web-stores worldwide. The OEM is also bundling the 2 new devices with some freebies, although their availability and choice might vary by country.

The two are based on the same Snapdragon 888 flagship-grade SoC, and have high-res OLED displays. However, the P50 Pocket stands apart with its novel folding design. The clamshell's secondary display is round so as to mirror its rear camera hump: a good idea, albeit with largely subjective execution.

Then again, both it and the Pro been shorn of 5G connectivity to be eligible for sale in countries such as Germany. This, however, has not stopped Huawei from setting the P50 Pocket at €1,299 (~US$1,483) for an 8GB RAM SKU in white - or €1,599 (~$1,826) for its 12GB "Premium Edition" in gold.

By contrast, the competing (and 5G) Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 can be found for as little as €712 (~$812) on Amazon.de today (correct at time of writing). The P50 Pro, on the other hand, starts at €1,199 (~$1,369) for an 8GB RAM SKU in Golden Black or Cocoa Gold colors (whereas its approximate rival the Galaxy S21 Ultra hovers at just over €1,000 (~$1,142) on other platforms at present).

Both are offered with some FreeBuds Pro and a 3-month free trial of Adidas' Runtastc Premium app on their German store gratis, at least.
