Huawei P50 Pocket: Harper's Bazaar China reveals promotional photos as display specifications leak
Until now, Huawei has been rather coy about the P50 Pocket, scheduled for release on December 23. However, Harper's Bazaar China has revealed all but the device's interior display with several promotional photos. The photos, starring Guan Xiao Tong, remain available to view on Harper's Bazaar China's Weibo account.
Hence, we suspect that their publication is part of Huawei's broader P50 Pocket marketing campaign. Regardless, the photos confirm the device's outer design, which includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, at least three rear-facing cameras and a small secondary display. Seemingly, Huawei will sell the P50 Pocket in at least gold and silver, too.
According to Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), the P50 Pocket has a 6.85-inch interior display when unfolded. By contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip3 relies on a 6.7-inch display. If Young is correct, then the P50 Pocket should be larger than Samsung's competing foldable smartphone.
Young adds that the outer display measures 1-inch across. Apparently, Huawei has cut costs by building this smaller display with a rigid OLED panel rather than a flexible one. Supposedly, choosing rigid OLED panels over flexible ones increase a device's weight and thickness.
