Huawei's P50 Pro has emerged despite its maker's recent trade-restriction-imposed woes. Its flagship attributes include a 50MP main camera, not to mention the unique selling point of a 40MP lens dedicated to monochrome sensing. However, they do come with the compromise of a version of a Snapdragon 888 processor incapable of on-board 5G connectivity as usual.
Then again, this detail might make Huawei's expanded debut of the P50 Pro all the more interesting, especially when it comes to a price reveal. It will enter a market full of 5G-enabled 888-powered phones, with 'normal' Android-based OSs with Google Mobile Services to boot. The P50 Pro, on the other hand, will presumably run HarmonyOS 2 as usual.
In any case, these potential weaknesses might turn to strengths when it comes to the forthcoming global versions of the P50 Pocket, Huawei's inaugural foldable.
It will be the Galaxy Z Flip3's only real competition on its release, and might thus prove an accessible entry-point to its new kind of screen for many - presuming the OEM gets its price right, of course. It will be revealed alongside all details on it and the P50 Pro on January 12, 2022.
