OnePlus has released stable OxygenOS 12 builds to the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, its most-recent flagship smartphones. In a blog post, the company explains that the Android 12-based update has already reached a few handsets and will 'continue to roll out incrementally'. OnePlus has not clarified when all OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro handsets should receive Android 12 and OxygenOS 12.
Currently, OnePlus has issued builds for Indian and North American devices. The build numbers for both regions are:
OnePlus 9
- IN: LE2111_11.C.36
- NA: LE2115_11.C.36
OnePlus 9 Pro
- IN: LE2121_11.C.36
- NA: LE2125_11.C.36
The changelog for OxygenOS 12 is not massive though, with OnePlus focusing on improving its Shelf menu, along with other areas like Dark mode, Work-Life Balance, Gallery and Canvas AOD. Arguably, the latter delivers the greatest changes by allowing you to customise the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro more than you could with OxygenOS 11.
However, the OnePlus Forums are littered with complaints about bugs in OxygenOS 12. As Max Weinbach shows below, the default camera app seems unusable when at 3.3x zoom. His OnePlus 9 Pro appears to have no problem with shooting at 1x, mind you. Unfortunately, the problem shown by Weinbach is the tip of the iceberg, based on the slew of OnePlus Forums posts.
Android 12 for the OnePlus 9 Pro could use a little more work and a little less ColorOS, if I do say so myself. pic.twitter.com/6615AhqE8p
