Leaked OnePlus Nord 2 CE specs suggest that it could pack a MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC
OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord CE earlier this year as a low-cost alternative to the full-fat OnePlus Nord. OnePlus has yet another budget Nord-branded offering in the works called the OnePlus Nord 2 CE, although the OnePlus Nord CE 2 moniker makes more sense. Twitter leaker Yogesh Brar (via 91mobiles) happened to stumble upon its specifications.
For the most part, the OnePlus Nord 2 CE reuses most of its predecessor's components, such as the 6.4-inch 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED panel, under-display fingerprint sensor, 16MP front-facing camera, 64MP wide-angle, 8MP ultra-wide-angle, and 2MP macro lenses. While the 4,500mAh battery is also slated to remain the same, OnePlus has bumped its charging wattage to 65W, more than doubling up the Nord CE's 30W figure. One can only hope that OnePlus sorted out the battery issues, as the last thing it wants is another Nord 2-like debacle.
The most significant upgrade (or downgrade, depending on who you ask) that the OnePlus Nord 2 CE offers is a MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC. Our benchmark database shows that the Dimensity 900 is objectively superior to the OnePlus Nord CE's Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, primarily due to it using newer Cortex-A77 cores and TSMC's 6nm manufacturing node.
The tipster rounds things off by stating that the OnePlus Nord 2 CE could hit shelves in India sometime in Q1, 2022 and cost INR 28,000 (US$370) for the maxed-out variant, presumably with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The launch window seems a tad early, given that its predecessor has been around for only six months. However, it could serve as a stop-gap for the OnePlus 10 series global launch, which is slated to happen two months after its late January/early February Chinese release.
