The Dimensity 8000 is projected to launch as MediaTek's new sub-flagship processor for mobile devices soon. Now, a famous leaker asserts that it can be used to build phones with specs to stand up to 2022 demands. Such a device could have 12GB of RAM, 2 potentially up-to-date rear cameras and launch for an acceptable price.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8000 is tipped as an upcoming Snapdragon 870-level contender, albeit with a new ARM Mali G510-MC6 GPU. Its OEM is expected to unveil it soon, as well as the maximum specs it can support. However, the leaker Digital Chat Station claims to have ahead on this point.

The tipster now estimates that a phone with a Dimensity 8000 chipset could have a screen of about 6.6 inches in diagonal length. This size might be falling behind slightly on multiple levels in 2022; however, it could have a moderm refresh rate of 120Hz, at least.

Then again, it seems the 8000 might only support FHD+ resolutions at this size. The processor can apparently be paired with up to 12GB of RAM. Otherwise, the 8000 is now backed to provide 2 rear cameras with a resolution of 50MP each, even if a third additional sensor would fall to 2MP.

These specs might sound like they don't come cheap, even in 2022. However, Digital Chat Station asserts that the SoC's unit-price could make for a phone starting at just 2000 yuan (~US$314) in China. Therefore, the Dimensity 8000 could make for the basis of the latest flagship killers from OEMs such as Realme or Redmi this year.
