The upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Dimensity 7000 have massive amounts of hype behind them, with public expectations currently leaning towards MediaTek finally offering better performance than Qualcomm's equivalent offerings. It appears, however, that those expectations may have to be tempered.
As revealed by leaker Digital Chat Station, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Dimensity 7000 currently trail their counterparts, the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 870 respectively, in early tests. The leaker provides no hard numbers, so impossible to say what the performance gap between the SoCs currently is.
Interestingly, the source makes a point of saying that these tests were done running Xiaomi's MIUI 13 software. There's a significant possibility that the stated difference in performance only exists due to MIUI 13 just not being optimized for MediaTek's chipsets. From revealed clock speeds and core configurations, the Dimensity 9000 and Dimensity 7000 should both outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 870 respectively—at least on the CPU end.
Redmi's d7000 and d9000 are not as fast as the new s870 and s8 gen1 models, although they are all pre-installed with miui13.
