Qualcomm has made Snapdragon into a distinct brand and transitioned the naming scheme of upcoming Snapdragon SoCs into "single-digit series and generation number". We have been hearing about the rumored Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as the upcoming Snapdragon 888 successor.
Now, this SoC has made its way to AnTuTu ahead of the November 30 unveiling. Interestingly, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 has also surfaced on AnTuTu making for an interesting comparison.
As per the leak, which just appeared on Weibo and shared by Abhishek Yadav on Twitter, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 races past the 1 million mark on AnTuTu scoring 1,035,020 points.
Hot on the heels of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 9000. The Dimensity 9000 also managed to cross the 1 million milestone in AnTuTu with a total score of 1,007,396 points, which is just about 2.6% lower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 indicating that both these chipsets can be expected to be highly competitive against each other.
These are just the total scores, however, and individual component scores are not available yet. Also, this is just one benchmark, and it doesn't make sense to infer anything just yet. We will have to test out actual devices before deciding on the advantages of either platform.
AnTuTu scores are not comparable across platforms, so any comparison of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 with the Apple A15 Bionic with these scores is not recommended.
