Realme set an ambitious precedent with its first-gen GT, its new "performance"-focused Android flagship smartphone, in 2021. Now, the leaker Whylab asserts that it has an upcoming successor capable of at least meeting its extensive internal benchmark in pretty much every respect.
This putative next generation will start out by launching as not merely the GT 2 but the GT 2 Pro (or Realme RMX3301). It is now described as powered by the Snapdragon 898 8 Gen1, joined by top-end LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage chips in this top-end device.
Judging by the specs packed into the inaugural GT, those components are not too far from probability. However, the "2 Pro" is now projected to improve on its predecessor with an enlarged 6.51 FHD+ AMOLED display. It might retain punch-hole selfie technology, although the shooter to be found within this in-display aperture is expected to upgrade to 32MP in resolution.
Turning to its rear cameras, the "Realme GT 2 Pro" is now said to have a 50MP main camera. This might sound like a downgrade on paper; however, it has the potential to be an upgrade in terms of quality - and is now also predicted to have OIS to boot.
Whylab also now corroborates earlier claims that Realme will equip the second-gen full-fat GT with its latest fast-charging technology. This new standard, thought to launch as UltraDart Charging, is slated to upgrade from the current top end of 65 watts (W) to an impressive 125W.
The tipster fails to mention a size for the battery to be compatible with this breakthrough spec; however, assuming it is anything around the GT's 4,400mAh capacity, it could charge from 0 to 100% in about 15 minutes.
The new full specs-dump for the "GT 2 Pro" also now allows for up-to-date Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. It also now suggests that it could debut with Realme UI 3.0, a new OS version based on Android 12. Finally, the alleged premium device may also match its alleged forebear by launching in "early 2022".
