Realme GT: the new Snapdragon 888 flagship makes ~US$15 million on its first 10 seconds on the market
The Snapdragon 888, UFS 3.1 and 120Hz E4 AMOLED display-enhanced Realme GT 5G is now available on the Chinese smartphone market. Its maker has confirmed that it took just 10 seconds to rake in no less than 100 million yuan (~US$15 million) on releasing it for general sale.
The new flagship's 2 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage and 12GB/256GB variants had had a 100 yuan (~$15) discount off their normal starting prices during the event in question. Nevertheless, these initial sales figures are impressive: Realme claims it sold just over 35,000 and 30,000 units of the 8 and 12GB variants respectively.
The GT 5G comes in a distinctive yellow-and-black vegan leather-backed option, which is only available in the 12GB flavor - although it costs no more than its glass-panelled counterparts. However, Realme did not mention if it sold more or less than the phone's other options.
It is also slated to gain a mid-range variant for its growing series sometime soon. As the GT's chassis has triple rear cameras with a 64MP main sensor, it might have been hoped that it also came in this package. However, the appearance of a new device called the Realme RMX3116 on TENAA's official website has led to speculation that it is the GT Neo. Should this be the case, it would be the OEM's first phone to launch with a curved display.
