Rumor | The Realme GT will be the cheapest Snapdragon 888 phone in Europe on its launch
The Realme GT is this brand's "gaming-focused", Snapdragon 888-powered flagship smartphone that launched in China in early 2021. Therefore, it has taken the company quite a while to get around to releasing it on an international basis. Nevertheless, its official UK Twitter channel has confirmed that it will launch on June 15, 2021.
The device is slated to become available in this country, as well as in the rest of Europe and Asian countries including India and Thailand as a result. It has been rumored to cost just around €400 (~US$487) in Europe on its release, thereby becoming an absolute bargain in 888 terms in this region.
However, a Realme EU sales page reportedly posted by accident ahead of its reveal apparently shows this figure is in fact set at €549 (~$668) instead. Nevertheless, this would still make it the cheapest premium-grade phone in this market on its release, especially as it applies to its top-end 12GB RAM "Racing Yellow" SKU.
On the other hand, the currently-pulled page also indicates the GT will only ship at this price to Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands or Portugal (implying potential incoming business for re-mailing services).
Then again, customers in the EU have no real need to wait on this contingency, as the GT also ships through AliExpress right now. On one hand, this listing omits the 12GB option, but on the other, it indicates that the leaked EU sales page is consistent, as the AliExpress counterpart asks at least US$503 (~€413) for 8GB/128GB equivalents.
