New leak sheds light on Realme's first-ever laptop, the Realme Book
Yesterday (09/06/2021), Realme teased what looked like a notebook/tablet. The picture's overall aesthetic suggested that it would be a laptop, though. It was encased in an envelope, but the bezels looked a bit too thick for a tablet. Now, Android Authority managed to get their hands on some renders of the said device, which will be called the Realme Book.
The renders make it abundantly clear that Realme drew a bit too much inspiration from Apple. As a result, the Realme Book bears all the markings of a MacBook, including its colour and design language. Furthermore, the notebook is also tipped to feature stereo speakers and a 3:2 screen, but the leaked images suggest otherwise. Instead, it may have something to do with the lighting and angles, but it shouldn't be long before we find out.
Realme's foray into the laptop space is hardly surprising, considering that it has been mirroring Xiaomi's movements from the get-go. Given Realme's penchant for targetting the affordable end of the spectrum, we can expect the Realme Book to cost around US$500 for the entry-level variant. However, its hardware may not be top-shelf material, even by older standards. Tiger Lake/Cezanne-powered models would be ideal, but Comet Lake seems like a more reasonable estimate.
