Rumor | Realme will partner with Kodak to launch the upcoming GT Master Edition smartphone
OnePlus has Hasselblad; Huawei has Leica (for now), and now, Realme has Kodak. At least, this is what the latest rumors are saying: that the latest smartphone/camera OEM cross-over involves the increasingly popular BBK Electronics brand and the classic name in consumer-grade photography.
The two are indeed now slated to unveil a partnership at an upcoming smartphone launch event. The Realme executive Chase Yu may have confirmed these indications to some extent with an impressive new camera sample from an unspecified new phone with a deliberately redacted watermark.
The device at the center of all this hype is thought to be called the Master Edition of the current "flagship-killing" GT. It might be the new product registered with the Chinese TENAA authority as the Realme RMX3366. This leak suggests the phone will launch with the Snapdragon 870 SoC, a 6.55-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display and a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor for its OnePlus 9-like triple rear camera module.
On the other hand, its new official mug-shots give no hint of additional branding; furthermore, this phone mgiht also turn out to be the X9 Pro instead. In addition, neither company involved in these new rumors have acknowledged them in any way as yet.
Should they be proven accurate, they might be particularly interesting as Kodak's record in the smartphone industry have not led to exactly runaway success to date. Perhaps Realme's influence could improve matters this time around.
