A few days ago, Huawei announced a new launch date for the P50 Pocket and P50 Pro, a smartphone that debuted in December for the company's home market. As we discussed separately, Huawei confirmed that the P50 Pocket would launch outside China on January 12 alongside the P50 Pro. However, it seems that that date only applies to Malaysia or other Asian Pacific countries too.
Since then, Huawei has clarified that the P50 Pocket will arrive two weeks later in Europe. According to the company's German Twitter account, both flagship smartphones will debut on January 26 in Europe. It is unclear if the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket will appear in the UK and the US simultaneously, though.
Still, the company should unveil both smartphones with Snapdragon 888 4G SoCs, having exhausted its Kirin 9000 supply for the P50 Pro. While the pair share a name and an SoC, they differ in many areas. For example, the P50 Pocket has inferior cameras and a smaller battery with slower charging. By contrast, the foldable has a larger display than the P50 Pro, albeit one with marginally fewer pixels per inch.
Unfortunately, Huawei has not confirmed how much either device will cost. For context, the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket sell for at least CNY 5,988 (~US$940) and CNY 8,998 (~US$1,410), respectively. Hence, expect both smartphones to be expensive when they announce themselves later this month in Europe.
