Huawei's next foldable smartphone is now thought to have the same clamshell form-factor as the Galaxy Z Flip6. It is thought to be cheaper than that Samsung flagship (or its supposedly upcoming Flip7 successor), however, thereby implying that the new Flip might be destined for the Nova series.

Huawei brought something genuinely novel to the foldable smartphone space earlier in 2025 with the Pura X - although the company might still be involved in the production of devices with more traditional dimensions, like those of the Galaxy Z Flip or Motorola Razr lines.

The new rumor comes courtesy of the typically accurate leaker Fixed Focus Digital, who indicates that Huawei is currently mulling the launch of a new smartphone most like the Pocket 2 but more affordable - and the last time rumors such as those arose, they culminated in the launch of the Nova Flip.

The release of its second generation is much less certain at this point than that of, say, the Pura 80 series: therefore, it seems likely that the "Nova Flip 2" will take no part in Huawei's next major product event.

Should such a smartphone be in the works, it will be interesting to see if it can improve on the more unprepossessing specs of its alleged forebear, which included a 4,400mAh battery and a 2.14-inch cover display.
