Oppo has silently unveiled two new affordable smartphones in its A5 lineup, the Oppo A5i and the Oppo A5i Pro. Both smartphones share a similar set of specifications, albeit with a few tweaks. For example, the vanilla variant ships with a 5,100 mAh battery, while the Pro variant comes with a slightly larger 6,000 mAh battery. However, both devices support 45 W wired charging.
Another major difference is camera setup. To be more precise, the A5i has an 8 MP primary camera, while the A5i Pro features a 50 MP rear camera. Upfront, both devices have the same 5 MP shooter for selfies and video chats. As far as the display size is concerned, the A5i and the A5i Pro have a 6.67-inch LCD display that delivers HD+ resolution, a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, and a 90 Hz refresh rate.
Oppo packs a Qualcomm’s rebranded Snapdragon 6S 4G Gen 1 chipset into both phones. This chipset is basically a rebranded version of the Snapdragon 662, which is the same chipset found on the Oppo A5 Pro 4G. The 11 nm-based chipset has Cortex-A73 and A53 CPU cores paired with an Adreno 610 GPU. Software-wise, both devices use the latest ColorOS 15-based Android 15 operating system. However, there’s no word on software updates from the brand.
Dimension-wise, there aren’t any major differences here. The vanilla variant measures just 7.68 mm (0.29 inches) in thickness and weighs 186 grams (0.41 lbs). Despite having a slightly larger battery than the base variant, the Pro model measures just 7.9 mm (0.31 inches) in thickness and weighs around 193 grams (0.42 lbs). Other features of the Pro variant include IP65 water and dust resistance, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC, IR Blaster, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and dual-band Wi-Fi 5 connectivity.
Available exclusively in midnight purple colorway, the Oppo A5i Pro is priced at PHP 9,000 (~$160). The device is now available for sale in the Philippines via Shopee. While the Oppo A5i's availability and pricing are still under wraps.
