The Oppo A5 arrives with a FHD+ AMOLED panel, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, and up to 12 GB of RAM as well as 512 GB of storage. The company even crammed a 6,500 mAh battery into the phone's 7.65 mm body, all while keeping the IP66/IP68/IP69 certifications.

Oppo has just announced the A5, its newest 5G-capable entry-level phone. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,412 × 1,080 (394 PPI), up to 120 Hz refresh rate, 1,200 nits peak brightness, and 10-bit color depth.

Inside, there's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR4X memory and 512 GB of UFS 3.1, but unfortunately no microSD card slot. In the camera department, there's a 50-megapixel camera on the back with an f/1.8 lens and support for recording in 4K@30fps, in addition to a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with an f/2.0 lens sitting in a hole-punch cutout.

The Oppo A5 is just 7.65 mm thick and weighs 185/189 grams (depending on the colorway), yet it fits a 6,500 mAh battery that can charge at up to 45 W (Ugreen 45 W GaN charger curr. $24.99 on Amazon). In addition, it ships with the company's ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. Other highlights include IP66, IP68, and IP69 ingress protection ratings, as well as an under-display optical fingerprint sensor.

Preorders for the Oppo A5 have already begun, and it's scheduled to start shipping on March 26th in three colorways — Mica Blue, Crystal Pink, and Zircon Black. Pricing is set at CNY 1,299 ($180) for the 8 GB/128 GB model, CNY 1,499 ($207) for 8 GB/256 GB, CNY 1,799 ($249) for 12 GB/256 GB, and CNY 1,999 ($276) for the top 12 GB/512 GB variant. It's unknown if the A5 will ever arrive in other markets.
