Oppo's latest smartphone for the Indian market is of the mid-tier A series, yet has the same IP69 ratings as a new flagship smartphone. The OEM asserts that the device can be submerged in 1.5 meters of (room temperature) water for up to 30 minutes, and also survive splashes of 80°C water.
Oppo also backs the A5 Pro to have passed 14 "military tests" of durability, and has internal "bionic cushioning" and cover glass rated to be 160% more "shatter-resistant" than that of the A3 Pro 5G.
The display under that protection is HD+ and not OLED, yet is augmented with "1,000-nit" brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is driven by the Dimensity 6300 SoC - just like the Realme 14x 5G that has beaten it onto the Indian market.
The A5 Pro could be said to have the more up-to-date camera hump with its ring-flash and iPhone 16-esque dual lenses - although the 14x has the larger 45W SuperVOOC battery at 6,000mAh, compared to 5,800mAh in its new Oppo rival.
Its UI rated to stay "fluid" for up to 4 years of use, although Oppo does not specify which version of its software is present (although Amazon lists it as ColorOS 14 based on Android 14).
The latter has also been released at a starting price of INR 17,999 for an 8GB RAM /128GB internal storage SKU, whereas Realme seems to have struck back by reducing the 14x at the same configuration to INR 15,145 on Amazon.
