After launching the Oppo A5 Pro in China back in December 2024, the company is now selling the phone internationally. However, the catch is that the international variant ships with a different set of components compared to the Chinese version. It comes as a successor to the Oppo A3 Pro, which debuted last year globally.
Let’s start with the processor. The Oppo A5 Pro global variant is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which is further expandable up to 1 TB via microSD card. In comparison, the Chinese variant ships with a next-generation MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor.
Not just the processor, but the global variant's display is also a letdown. The 5G-enabled smartphone features a 6.67-inch LCD display (down from the 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display of the Chinese variant) that outputs at 1604 x 720 p resolution with a peak brightness of 1000 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
For optics, the A5 Pro houses a dual rear camera setup at the back consisting of a 50 MP primary camera and a 2 MP depth sensor, just to fill the gap. There’s an 8 MP shooter at the front for capturing selfies and video chats. Like its Chinese counterpart, the global variant retains the IP66 + IP68 + IP69 water and dust resistance rating.
Oppo's budget-focused phone also packs a 5,800 mAh (down from the 6,000 mAh) battery that supports 45 W wired charging. Other features of the global A5 Pro include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a military-grade MIL-STD-810H certification, and 360° drop resistance. Dimensionally, it measures 184 x 75.3 x 7.76 mm (7.2 x 2.96 x 0.3 inches) and weighs 194 grams (0.42 lbs).
Available in Flower Pink and Mocha Brown colorways, the Oppo A5 Pro starts at NT $7,990 (~$243) for the base 6 GB + 128 GB variant, and the 8 GB + 256 GB model costs NT $9,490 (~$290). It is now available for purchase via Oppo’s official website.˛
