Huawei has set out its stall for the release of its next flagship, which will sit under the Pura 80 series. Having redefined the foldable market with the Pura X in March, the company has now confirmed that it will be returning to the world of conventional candybar smartphones on June 11.
As the teaser embedded below shows, Huawei will officially unveil the Pura 80 series at 14:30 local time (06:30 UTC). For the time being, the event is only expected to apply to the Chinese market. Typically, Huawei offers its devices outside its home market at some stage, though.
Huawei is remaining quiet on the contents of next week's launch event, at least for now. Nonetheless, leakers like Digital Chat Station and Fixed Focus Digital have already weighed in on what Huawei has in store. For example, the former asserts that Huawei will rival recent 'Ultra' flagships produced by Oppo, Vivo and Samsung with a new 1-inch camera sensor complemented by a dual-focus telephoto camera.
On the former, various sources believe that it will be the SC5A0CS, a potentially in-house sensor that Huawei will market under SmartSens branding. Apparently, this new sensor will output natively at 50 MP like the Pura 80 Ultra's telephoto camera, albeit without a variable aperture. Meanwhile, the new telephoto camera will deliver a 1/1.3-inch optical format. These two cameras should be joined by 40 MP ultra-wide-angle and 2 MP colour temperature sensors. It remains to be seen at this stage whether these cameras will be found across multiple Pura 80 models at this stage, though.
