Huawei has scheduled its major Pura 80-series launch for June 11, 2025 - the day after WWDC 2025 will stream live in China.
The company has indicated that it will launch a direct successor to the 70 Pro+ as well as that of the current 70 Ultra flagship.
The former is now said to have a display with a single punch-hole selfie camera in the standard central orientation, thereby hinting that the Pura series has ditched Huawei's heretofore signature 3D facial recognition biometrics for yet another generation.
According to a new hands-on leak, the same screen might have a subtle curve to all 4 edges rather than the outright flat, iPhone-esque look of the Oppo Find X8 Ultra.
They apparently complement the frame with the curved metallic edges also seen in a recent official Pura 80 Pro+ teaser (in the same vibrant red color, too).
That design might also apply to the 80 Pro, although there is no guarantee that they will also see the new tandem OLED panel allegedly destined for their Ultra sibling.
The vaunted leaker Digital Chat Station also now asserts that the 80 Pro+ and perhaps even the Pro will upgrade to Huawei's new custom 1-inch 50MP main rear camera sensor, found behind a 24 millimeter (mm, as opposed to 25mm in the Pura 70 Pro+) variable aperture lens system.
It might be joined by a periscope zoom lens in the Pro series, now believed to have a length of 89mm (whereas the 70 Pro+ has one of 93mm) - although its optical zoom might upgrade to 3.7x, compared to 3.5x in its predecessor.
