The Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design is a special-edition flagship smartphone with a tandem (or "dual-layer") OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,500 nits of peak brightness. Not even that is good enough for Huawei, apparently, as the company is now said to have improved on them for the upcoming Pura 80 Ultra.
Accordingly, the device could have the best display in a Huawei handset to date - although it is still thought to be driven by the same Kirin 9020 SoC from the 70 RS Ultimate.
The 80 Ultra is thought to be accompanied by 80 Pro+, 80 Pro and vanilla 80 siblings, even if they may not all become available at once - in fact the latter might be the last member of the series to launch, according to the reliable leaker Fixed Focus Digital.
The same tipster also now hints that the 4 rumored members of the Pura 80 series might have different designs, as opposed to other brands who might release vanilla and Pro versions of the same smartphone chassis with more or less hardware as appropriate.
The idea that each member of the 80 series might have its own appearance is intriguing, although it might also be expensive from Huawei's perspective - not the least because each variant might need its own screen.
In the meantime, Pura 80 Ultra buyers are projected to enjoy the fruits of an advanced camera system with a large 1-inch main sensor and extensive zoom capabilities on its supposedly top-tier display.
