Samsung's most puzzling smartphone in recent history, the Galaxy S25 Edge, is finally here. Like its non-Edge counterparts, most information about its innards was leaked well ahead of time. This phone has the potential to be the most divisive of the lot due to its asking price and specifications.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Edge packs the same Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy found on the other Galaxy S25 devices. It is accompanied by 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. No 8 GB shenanigans here, at least. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and 5G.
For the cameras, the Galaxy S25 Edge uses one 200 MP wide-angle lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, along with a 12 MP selfie snapper. No telephoto sensor in a phone this expensive is borderline criminal because they're now found on devices that cost less than half as much. In all likelihood, it may have been scrapped to make the phone thinner.
Other Galaxy S25 Edge specs include a 6.7-inch dynamic AMOLED screen that refreshes at up to 120 Hz, complete with Samsung's Vision Booster tech and an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The phone draws power from a 3,900 mAh battery that charges at just 25 Watts. Wireless charging and Wireless Powershare are also available.
Finally, on to why the Galaxy S25 Edge gets it name. The smartphone weighs 163 grams and measures 75.8 mm x 158.4 mm x 5.85 mm. While that is undoubtedly impressive, it does little to warrant its EUR 1,249 ($1,382) asking price. The 512 GB variant will set you back by EUR 1,369 ($1,515). You can pre-order it now from Samsung's website. Anyone who gets it before May 29 will get a free storage upgrade, meaning you can get the 512 GB variant for the 256 GB version's price.
