The Sony Xperia 1 VII is now official, having been presented across Japan, Europe, the UK and other markets earlier today. In short, the Xperia 1 VII should outshine the Xperia 1 VI (curr. $1,039.99 on Amazon) when it comes to performance and ultra-wide-angle photography. It seems that Sony has brought across plenty of hardware from last year's flagship, though.
The emergence of the Xperia 1 VII on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last month appeared to indicate that Sony would offer the device in the US, too. For reference, an FCC certification means that Sony has sought to receive approval to sell the Xperia 1 VII in the US. Unfortunately, it looks like this was a red herring.
Taking a look at Sony's US-facing social media channels reveals nothing about the Xperia 1 VII. In fact, Sony Xperia US stopped posting about devices last year before the Xperia 1 VI officially arrived. Likewise, The Verge reports that it has not received confirmation of an impending Xperia 1 VII release in the US. Android Authority goes a step further by stating that the Xperia 1 is 'once again skipping the US'. While the latter has not provided anything that verifies this claim, all publicly available evidence suggests that this is the case.
