Huawei has introduced the next generation of Nova smartphones in its home turf, i.e., China. Like last year, Huawei brings three smartphones under the Nova 14 series: the base Nova 14, the Nova 14 Pro, and the Nova 14 Ultra. We already covered the Ultra variant separately, which you can read here.
Let’s start with the display; the Nova 14 Pro sports a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display that outputs at a resolution of 2776 x 1224 pixels with a 1-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and 300 Hz touch sampling rate support. The Pro variant has the same variable aperture sensor as the Ultra variant, featuring a 50 MP RYYB OIS-enabled primary camera with variable aperture. The main camera is complemented by a 12 MP telephoto lens and an 8 MP ultrawide shooter.
Upfront, you are getting not one but two 50 MP + 8 MP selfie sensors as the Ultra for selfies and video chats. As usual, there’s no chipset information from Huawei. Software-wise, the device runs HarmonyOS 5.0 out of the box. Furthermore, a 5,500 mAh battery powers the internals and supports 100 W fast wired charging. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging support here.
The rest of the highlights include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, an IP65 water and dust resistance rating, an IR blaster, WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity support. Dimensionally, the device measures 163.4 x 75 x 7.7 mm (6.43 x 2.95 x 0.3 inches) and weighs around 207 grams (0.45 lbs).
The Huawei Nova 14 Pro starts at CNY 3,499 ($485) for the base 256 GB variant, while the top 512 GB variant is priced at CNY 3,799 ($526). It comes in feather sand black, frost white, ice blue, and ice crystal powder colorways. The Nova 14 series is now available for pre-order via Huawei’s online store, and open sales are scheduled for later this month.
