Hardly any time has passed since a leaked image appeared to reveal two upcoming OnePlus smartphones, which will sit below the OnePlus 13 in the company's product stack (curr. $949 on Amazon). In summary, the image only revealed the rear design of the devices, which were rumoured to arrive as the OnePlus Ace 5 Extreme and OnePlus Ace 5 Racing editions. Now, Evan Blass has weighed in on rumours with set of leaked promotional images.
Embedded below, the images seemingly confirm that both models will feature flat displays intersected by a punch-hole for a single front-facing camera. Likewise, both have relatively thin display bezels. However, only what Blass describes as the Ace 5 至尊版, which roughly translates to the Ace 5 Extreme Edition or Supreme Edition, has OnePlus' new customisable Plus Key. In comparison, the Ace 5 竞速版 (Ace 5 Racing Edition) makes do with just power and volume buttons.
Both new Ace 5 models contain two rear-facing cameras though, despite appearances to the contrary. Currently, the pair are expected to line up with recent MediaTek Dimensity chipsets too. On the one hand, the Ace 5 Extreme Edition may challenge the Find X8s series with the Dimensity 9400+ that debuted last month. On the other hand, the Ace 5 Racing Edition should feature the slower Dimensity 9400e that is less than a week old. Apparently, both of OnePlus' new Ace 5 models will combine these powerful chipsets with batteries that exceed 7,000 mAh capacities too, thanks to their use of silicon carbon technology. A launch date and the prospect of global availability have not emerged yet, though.
