The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2'' (2024) was announced last August as the first non-Apple tablet with a tandem OLED display. While Huawei followed it with a larger model — the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 (2025) — which despite its name, was announced in November 2024, it doesn't have a tandem OLED display. Now, Huawei has announced a 2025 edition of the MatePad Pro 12.2'' which brings some notable upgrades.
Unveiled alongside the Huawei FreeBuds 6, Huawei Watch 5, and the Huawei Watch Fit 4 at an event in Berlin, the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2'' (2025) has a tandem OLED FullView display. There's also the option to purchase a model with a Tandem OLED PaperMatte Display which greatly reduces glare and also provides a paper-like experience when writing or drawing.
The MatePad Pro 12.2'' has the same display specifications as its predecessor. The resolution is still 2800 x 1840 with a 144Hz refresh rate while the peak brightness level remains unchanged at 2,000 nits. Huawei didn't reveal the processor powering the new tablet but last year's model is powered by the Kirin T91. It still has 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.
While it seems nothing has changed between last year's model and this year's, there are actually some few differences. Huawei has equipped the new MatePad Pro 12.2'' with a 50MP primary rear camera that allows it to shoot higher resolution images. It is paired with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera. For the sake of comparison, the 2024 MatePad Pro 12.2 (curr. available on Amazon.de for €799) launched with a 13MP + 8MP dual camera setup on the back.
While the primary rear camera has been upgraded, the MatePad Pro 12.2'' still keeps the 8MP front-facing camera of its predecessor. It also keeps the fingerprint scanner, quad speakers, quad microphones, and 10,100 mAh battery capacity of last year's model. Charging speed wasn't stated but last year's model arrived with 100W fast charging via USB-C, so we don't expect any less.
The MatePad Pro 12.2'' has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB 3.1 Gen 1 but lacks a headphone jack. It runs HarmonyOS 4.3 which brings a three-window multitasking feature. Available in Black and Green, the MatePad Pro 12.2'' comes with the Huawei Glide Keyboard and SuperCharge adaptor. However, the stylus has to be purchased separately.
The MatePad Pro 12.2'' (2025) has a price tag of €849.99 for the base model with 256GB of storage while the 512GB variant costs €999.99. It will also be available in the UK for £899.99, but that's for the 512GB variant as Huawei has no plans to sell the 256GB version in the region.
