It looks like Xiaomi is preparing to refresh the Redmi Pad series once again, having released the Pad 7 Pro and the cheaper Pad 7 (curr. $420 on Amazon) just over two months ago. For context, Xiaomi has introduced five Redmi Pad-branded tablets so far, starting with the eponymous Redmi Pad in October 2022. Since then, it has launched versions of the Redmi Pad Pro with and without cellular connectivity, as well as two distinct Redmi Pad SE variants.
Now, early evidence suggests that the Redmi Pad 2 series is almost upon us. So far, LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants have appeared at regulatory bodies with model numbers 25040RP0AG and 2505DRP06G, respectively. While neither variant has been spotted at a retailer or on a benchmarking platform yet, a few details can be gleaned from recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC), National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) databases.
For example, Xiaomi intends to offer both Redmi Pad 2 variants with 33 W wired charging running HyperOS 2.1. Meanwhile, the Redmi Pad 2 4G will provide dual-SIM connectivity just like the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 and Redmi Pad Pro 5G before it. Moreover, 2505DRP06G and 25040RP0AG model numbers suggest that Xiaomi plans to release the Redmi Pad 2 series globally this spring. Although not guaranteed yet, FCC documentation indicates that at least the 2505DRP06G will be available by mid-September in one form or another.
