Xiaomi confirms Pad 7 Ultra will be powered by in-house Xring O1 SoC

Xiaomi is getting ready to hold a major launch event in China on May 22, 2025. In this event, the company will be fully unveiling its new in-house SoC, the Xring O1. Although only a few official details about the chip have been shared, the company previously detailed that it will be based on TSMC's 3 nm process, which seemingly makes it a direct competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Per a recent Geekbench listing, it seems that the performance of the Xring O1 will be better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and quite close to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This listing has also revealed that the in-house Xiaomi SoC will sport a 10-core configuration.

As for the devices that the Xring O1 will power, previously, it was believed that only the Xiaomi 15S Pro will feature it. However, with a recent teaser, Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be inside the Pad 7 Ultra as well. These are two of the flagship devices that the company is expected to showcase at the coming event.

Regarding the other specs of the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, recent reports suggest that it will sport a 14-inch OLED screen with thin bezels and a wide notch. This size of the notch suggests that the flagship tablet will have 3D face recognition technology, similar to the Face ID found in newer Apple iPad models.

The upcoming flagship tablet is also expected to pack a large battery with support for 120 W fast charging (150 W Anker GaN Prime charger curr. $84.45 on Amazon). As for the Xiaomi 15S Pro, it will reportedly feature the same design as the other phones in the series and a Leica-enhanced camera setup. Other rumored specs of the smartphone include a 6.73-inch LTPO screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and a 6,100 mAh battery with 90 W fast charging support.
