Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra left for dead by better-optimized Sony Xperia 1 III in grueling battery of speed tests
The Sony Xperia 1 III has already demolished the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra in a speed test comparison, and now it has done the same to the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. YouTuber TechNick once again put the latest Xperia 1 flagship through a rapid series of tests to see how well it could perform against its mighty Chinese rival. While a close race could have been expected, the result was actually quite surprising, with the Xperia 1 III scoring a total of 25 points against the Mi 11 Ultra’s lowly 7 points.
The first round started brightly for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, with TechNick giving it two points to one against the Xperia 1 III in the boot and fingerprint-unlocking segment. However, the Mi 11 Ultra completely fell behind in the grueling app-opening tests, with the points awarded during the second round standing at 16 to 5 in favor of the Sony smartphone by the time it was Geekbench’s turn to feature.
The Xperia 1 III managed to finish its Geekbench run in 2 m 24 s and scored 1,126 points (single) and 3,386 points (multi) in the benchmark tests. In comparison, the Mi 11 Ultra completed the test in 2 m 32 s and also lagged behind in the scores: 983 points (single) and 3,370 points (multi). The Sony Xperia 1 III was also faster in 3DMark’s Wild Life benchmark but the Xiaomi phone produced a slightly higher FPS rate: 34.1 vs. 33.9.
By the time the game opening and loading tests began it was pretty much over for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. The Sony Xperia 1 III also grabbed an additional point in the RAM management test, which makes one wonder how much improvement Xiaomi actually managed with MIUI 12.5 after many users complained about poor RAM management in MIUI 12. Having close to stock Android obviously helped the Xperia 1 III come out as the clear speed-test victor against the Mi 11 Ultra.
