The Xiaomi Mi 10T range that was released for the global market (outside of China) in September 2020 was generally well-received. The Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, and Mi 10T Lite offered near-premium flagship parts, 5G connectivity, and decent camera equipment but at affordable price points. While the Lite model delivered a 120 Hz refresh rate and the regular and Pro models operated at up to 144 Hz, all three Mi 10T phones came with an IPS LCD screen. According to Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi Mi 11T series will utilize OLED panels.
The introduction of OLED displays for the Mi 11T range will be seen as a positive by most and generally considered an upgrade, regardless of the fact that many still swear by LCD panels and their brightness. Digital Chat Station also claims that the Xiaomi Mi 11T series will support up to a 120 Hz refresh rate, and that the phones are “about to go”, indicating that Xiaomi could be almost ready to release the Mi 11T lineup. More details about the Xiaomi Mi 11T Pro were recently revealed, and it is expected that this particular series will be launched specifically for the international/non-Chinese market.
OLED panels are typically the more expensive choice than their LCD counterparts, so it will be interesting to see if Xiaomi will soak up the potential Bill of Materials (BoM) difference between the Mi 11T range and Mi 10T series or pass on the additional expense to the customer via higher price tags. For reference, the prices of the 5G-capable Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, Mi 10T, and Mi 10T Pro started from €279 (US$331), €499 (US$593), and €599 (US$711), respectively, upon release.
