Lei Jun, who heads one of the world's most successful electronics OEM Xiaomi, is reportedly planning to give a public speech later in August 2021. The announcement has almost immediately led to speculation that the existence of 2 long-hyped products will be confirmed during this address.
They are the Mi Mix 4, a smartphone or phablet rumored to continue its sub-series' reputation for cutting-edge, innovative features slated to include under-display cameras in this iteration, and the Mi Pad 5. The latter would be Xiaomi's first tablet from this line in some years, and might have high-end specs such as the Snapdragon 870 or lesser-spotted 860 processor.
Then again, the actual content of Lei Jun's planned speech remain unknown at this point. It is likely that it might turn out to be a 1-hour version of the short run-down of his career he gave at the end of the Mi 11 Pro and Ultra debut from earlier in 2021.
Nevertheless, the word from Xiaomi is that, should the August 10 event be well-received, it might become a yearly event going forward. In other news, the OEM is rumored to start the CC series, a line of more affordable devices, back up again, albeit later in 2021.
