Rumor | Honor will launch flagship smartphones with penta-cam options
Honor has 9 days from today (August 3, 2021) until the launch of its long-touted, Snapdragon 888+ powered Magic3 smartphone series. Nevertheless, it is shedding teasers for these devices like there are no pre-launch days left. The latest of these offer new potential insights into their camera prowess.
This preview comes courtesy of Honor's CEO George Zhao, who reportedly took the opportunity of a recent interview on Chinese TV to show a Magic3 unit off in the wild - to some extent. The phone was protected by a thick black case that obscured many of its features (its also-rumored round camera hump included).
However, it still left enough evidence for some bloggers to project that the housing was designed to accommodate 5 cameras. They are rumored to contain a 50MP sensor, accompanied by a triple 64MP array similar to that found in the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra, along with a 2MP lens for either macros or depth-sensing.
These extensive camera specs are more or less probable, as Honor is indeed touting the Magic 3, as well as its rumored Pro and Pro+ variants, as premium hardware focused on these use-cases.
