MIUI 13 is coming at the end of the year says Xiaomi CEO
While Xiaomi continues to send out MIUI 12.5 updates to its extensive lineup, the company already has the next version of its skin, MIUI 13, in the works. In an address on Weibo a few hours ago, company CEO Lei Jun finally revealed when MIUI 13 would be released.
As expected, Xiaomi will release MIUI 13 at the end of the year. That should come as no surprise, as the MIUI 12.5 rollout is still ongoing. A year-end release gives the company some time to finish up with MIUI 12.5. It also aligns rather nicely with the release of the Mi 12, as the flagship phone is expected to be announced in December. There's a chance Xiaomi will announce MIUI 13 and the Mi 12 at the same event.
In fact, it'd be a surprise if the Mi 12 doesn't run MIUI 13 at launch. Rollout for other devices will follow right after, starting with the Mi 11 series—if previous MIUI launches are anything to go by. MIUI updates are independent of Android OS updates, so we expect all Xiaomi phones released over the past couple of years to get MIUI 13 eventually.
