Xiaomi has a lot on its plate next week, with the Mi Mix 4 and a new OLED TV already confirmed to arrive on August 10. Now, the company has revealed that it plans to launch the Mi Pad 5 on the same day, just a day before Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event. August 10 will be a China-only launch event though; we should not expect the Mi Mix 4, Mi Pad 5 or a new OLED TV to appear globally before the autumn.
The company has not revealed much about the Mi Pad 5 yet, apart from the teaser we have included below. The sole image confirms that the tablets, expected to launch as a trio, will support active pen input. Additionally, the image appears to show the Mi Pad 5 with a flat display and a metal chassis. This design is reinforced by a leak that shows the Mi Pad 5 with a brushed frame and dual rear-facing cameras.
According to a recent FCC listing, the Mi Pad 5 series will also support a keyboard, presumably detachable and up to 256 GB of storage. The same listing describes the tablet as having 6 GB of RAM, which will also be available with 128 GB of storage. The Mi Pad 5 series will launch with MIUI 12.5, too.
