Mi Pad 5 and Mi Mix 4 accomplish new insane sales feats for Xiaomi
We recently reported about estimated sales figures for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 potentially approaching two billion yuan (US$309 million) and now official numbers from the Chinese OEM for both the latest Mi Mix smartphone and the Mi Pad 5 series have indicated that astronomical number is not out of reach.
Starting with the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, the firm reports that an incredible amount of 300 million yuan (US$46.3 million) was made within the first minute of the phone’s release on August 10. Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing has informed followers that the Mi Mix 4 is out of stock but will soon be available again.
As for the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro/Pro 5G, the new Xiaomi tablets also managed their own astonishing sales feat. It seems 200,000 units of the 11-inch Android tablets were snapped up within the first five minutes of release, clearly demonstrating support for an Apple iPad Pro competitor that doesn’t cost a hefty sum.
In fact, pricing strategy has been key for Xiaomi here: The Mi Mix 4 starts at just 4,999 yuan (US$772) while the Mi Pad 5 costs from 1,999 yuan (US$309). Both can be classed as premium products, with high-end parts and fast processors, and they signal Xiaomi’s commitment to take on and beat Samsung and Apple in these particular spaces.
