The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 series supports the desktop mode from the Mi Mix Fold
Digital Chat Station has discovered that the Mi Pad 5 Pro supports the Mi Mix Fold's desktop mode. While Xiaomi has not included the software in its latest tablet, Digital Chat Station has installed the Pocket PC app to test how it operates outside of Xiaomi's first foldable smartphone.
Apparently, the app works well on a larger display, with Digital Chat Station encountering no bugs. Ultimately, Xiaomi's desktop mode resembles many others, such as Samsung DeX or LG's equivalent. Specifically, Xiaomi's alternative has a taskbar and a start menu of sorts.
It remains to be seen if Xiaomi will add its Pocket PC functionality to the Mi Pad 5 series. In our opinion, Xiaomi's desktop mode would be more useful on a larger screen than the 8.01-inch panel that the Mi Mix Fold has. The desktop mode would be ideal with a detachable keyboard too, which Xiaomi has developed for the Mi Pad 5 series.
If Xiaomi does not bring its Pocket PC app to the Mi Pad 5 series, then it should be available as an APK soon enough. Supposedly, Xiaomi will release the Mi Pad 5 outside China in September.
