The Mi Band 6, branded as the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 for the international market, can now be used as a simple torch or flashlight. Users of the popular fitness tracker simply have to download and install the firmware update 1.0.4.38 to be able to use this handy new feature.
The flashlight function makes the Xiaomi Mi Band 6’s 1.56-inch AMOLED screen light up when activated, useful for those late-night power walks or for finding items in the dark. The firmware update has already started rolling out in China and there are reports of Mi Band 6 users in the UK, Czech Republic, and Kuwait who have also received the new software package.
It’s important to update the Mi Fit app to the latest version 5.3.0 before installing the firmware 1.0.4.38. As well as bringing the new flashlight feature to the Mi Smart Band 6, the latest update also brings in additional language support (such as Dutch) and there have even been some user reports that battery life optimizations may have also been included.
