OnePlus launched the OnePlus 10 Pro in China weeks ago. While the phone is yet to make its global debut, it has now been put through the paces in JerryRigEverything's durability, with some rather horrifying results.
The OnePlus 10 Pro performed as expected on the scratch test—light scratches at level six, with deeper grooves at level 7—and its under-display fingerprint reader held up well even when heavily scratched. It all went sideways in the bend test, however, as the OnePlus 10 Pro immediately began to creak before completely snapping in two when bent from the other side.
It's always going to be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the OnePlus 10 Pro shambolic durability under bend stress, but it appears that a combination of the phone's battery placement, the position of the volume rockers, and weak reinforcement results in poor horizontal integrity just beneath the heavy camera module.
Either way, the fact is that the new OnePlus 10 Pro has significant durability issues, as sitting on the phone could potentially cause major damage. It's a weird time to be in when a foldable phone is more durable than a traditional flagship from the same company.
