OnePlus launched its first-ever 80W SUPERVOOC-charging flagship smartphone in 2022 - however, the 10 Pro's speed in these terms stop mattering once a user gets in the car and has to use a non-compatible charger. However, the OEM has announced a solution today (August 3, 2022; even if it has waited to release the refreshed 10T smartphone to do so).
The latest SUPERVOOC Car Charger joins other similar accessories such as the OEM's 50W wireless charger in that it can charge its matching 10 Pro (or Nord 2T, or standard 10R for that matter) at the same rate as its own power brick in an automotive setting.
Accordingly, it will also be capable of working with a new 10T 150W Endurance Edition, charging one of those new top-end SKUs from 1-50% in 11 minutes, or from 1-100% in 29 minutes. That may sound blazing fast for a car charger - however, OnePlus claims to have baked safety systems that kick in to pause its functions (as indicated by a white LED ring) at temperatures of 40°C or more into the new product
The 80W accessory is also backwards compatible with a range of non-SUPERVOOC devices (tablets and even handheld consoles included, apparently), although it will behave like any other USB-PD car charger in those cases. OnePlus has started its new accessory at US$39 in North America or €59.99 in Europe, and will ship it from August 25, 2022. However, it is available to pre-order direct from OnePlus (alongside the new SUPERVOOC 160W power brick) from now.
