OnePlus 10T announced with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 150 W fast charging, 16 GB RAM and an affordable price tag
For reasons unknown, OnePlus had to cancel the OnePlus 10T (OnePlus Ace Pro) launch event in China. However, the global launch event has proceeded as per schedule. The OnePlus 10T is now official with top-of-the-line hardware and a surprisingly affordable price tag. Most of its specifications were revealed by the company and a torrent of leaks, so there wasn't much of a surprise left for OnePlus fans.
As foretold earlier, the OnePlus 10T is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, coupled with up to 16 GB of storage, the first OnePlus smartphone to do so. A new feature called "Always Alive" lets users keep up to 30 apps in the memory. The Snapdragon chip has proven to be quite power-hungry in recent tests, and that's why OnePlus has designed a new "3D Cooling System 2.0" to keep it chilly. The company claims that it can lower temperatures by five degrees in a minute.
Unlike its predecessor, the OnePlus 10T is bereft of any Hasselblad branding. The camera array is spearheaded by a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS, EIS, and the ability to capture images with 10-bit colour. It is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree FOV, and a 2 MP macro lens. Interestingly enough, the phone doesn't offer 8K video recording capabilities, something that is becoming increasingly common in recent high-end phones.
For the display, the OnePlus 10T uses a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,412 pixels, a noticeable downgrade from the OnePlus 10 Pro's 1440p panel. It does, however, offer other high-end features such as HDR10+ compatibility, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, 720 Hz touch response rate and up to 950 nits peak brightness. The 120 Hz display can dynamically adjust its refresh rate depending on the app being used.
The OnePlus 10T is also the first of its kind to support 150 W SuperVOOC fast charging. One can top up its 4,800 mAh battery in 20 minutes. Users in North America, however, will have the charging wattage restricted to 125 W due to the lower input voltage. The battery reportedly retains 80% of its capacity after 1,800 charge cycles, which translates to roughly four years of usage. Lastly, the Battery Healing Technology ensures that the anodes/cathodes are repaired in real-time, ensuring further longevity.
Users in India and Europe can pre-order the OnePlus 10T starting today (August 3) from OnePlus' official website and other retail outlets. Prices start at INR 49,999, EUR 699 and GBP 629 for the base variant with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. North American users will have to wait until September 1 to pre-order the phone, which will cost US$649 for the same configuration.
