Leaker Ahmed Qwaider has shared details about what to expect from the Galaxy Z Fold4, including prospective performance numbers. However, there is a good chance that the device will not arrive as the Galaxy Z Fold4. Instead, @_snoopytech_ claims that Samsung will drop its 'Z' branding globally, as it has already done so in Eastern Europe. Hence, expect to see the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold3 resorting to Samsung's original Galaxy Fold branding, last used on the original model.
According to Qwaider, the Galaxy Fold4 will feature Gorilla Glass Victus+ on its front and rear sides to protect its cover display and its back panel. By contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold3 relied on the lesser Gorilla Glass Victus. In saying that, Qwaider claims that the Galaxy Fold4 will retain its predecessor's 4,400 mAh battery, as well as its 25 W wired charging capability. Purportedly, the Galaxy Fold4 will reach 50% charge from 0% in approximately 30 minutes, compared to the 33% that the Galaxy Z Fold3 could achieve during the same period.
Predictably, the Galaxy Fold4's interior display operates at a 120 Hz refresh rate. Conversely, Qwaider mentions that the Galaxy Fold4 will offer up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, which would be 200 nits lower than the Galaxy Z Fold3. Potentially, this value could represent that Galaxy Fold4's maximum brightness when displaying SDR content, though. If that is the case, then this year's Galaxy Fold would have upwards of a 25% brighter display than its predecessor.
Meanwhile, Qwaider claims that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 will deliver significantly better performance than the Snapdragon 888 powering the Galaxy Z Fold3. Specifically, the former should provide up to 15% improved CPU performance, coupled with a 59% superior GPU performance. Likewise, this year's NPU could manage 68% more computing processes per second, which should notably improve AI performance. The Galaxy Fold4 will debut on August 10 at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy Flip4 and new wearable products, including the Galaxy Watch5 Pro.
