Last week, Amazon Netherlands went a few days early by listing two Galaxy Z Fold4 SKUs, confirming several details about the upcoming handset. Subsequently, @noh_tech shared hands-on photos of the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4, which Samsung was clearly unhappy about. Both shown in their blue colour options, the hands-on photos underline the design changes that Samsung has made for this year's Galaxy Z series.
Arguably, the Galaxy Z Flip4 contains fewer visual changes from the Galaxy Z Flip3. On the one hand, the Galaxy Z Flip4 retains its predecessor's two-tone design with a small cover display. Reputedly, this year's cover display is slightly larger than last year's, although it is difficult to tell from the one photo provided. Also, it seems that Samsung has been unable to overcome the interior display's crease. It remains to be seen to how noticeable this will be compared to the Galaxy Z Flip3, though.
On the other hand, Samsung has revised its hinge mechanism for the Galaxy Z Flip4. Specifically, the metal elements connecting the two halves of the device to the hinge appear thinner. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether Samsung has reduced the size of the thickness of the hinge casing with this year's Galaxy Z Flip too. Conversely, the Galaxy Z Fold4 has received more changes, with a much thinner hinge casing, a smaller form factor and an overall lighter footprint. The display crease and under-panel camera (UPC) remain visible, mind you. Samsung will introduce both devices on August 10 at its next Galaxy Unpacked device alongside the Galaxy Watch5 series and the Galaxy Buds2 Pro.
