Redmi Pad: Early details of Xiaomi's budget tablet outed as it receives global certification
Rumors over the past few weeks have strongly touted the existence and upcoming launch of Xiaomi's first Redmi-branded tablet, the Redmi Pad. The tablet now looks to have made its first appearance, revealing some early details in the process.
The Redmi Pad has now made the trip over to the FCC for certification. The tablet lands with the model number "22081283G", confirming that it's designed to arrive on the global market whenever it goes on sale. That model number also proves that the Redmi Pad is, in fact, the tablet "L83" from previous leaks.
The FCC listing reveals two details of the Redmi Pad: it will be equipped with a 7800 mAh battery and will run MIUI 13 at launch. That battery capacity is less than the Xiaomi Pad 5's (8720 mAh), but more than the OPPO Pad Air's (7100 mAh). The latter will likely be the closest rival to the Redmi Pad.
Interestingly, leaker Digital Chat Station appears to claim that the Redmi Pad will be a WiFi tablet. That's in line with a previous report from Xiaomiui which revealed the existence of a seeming WiFi-only tablet from Xiaomi. It's a bit baffling, though, as recent budget tablets from brands like Realme and OPPO have all supported LTE at the very least.
